Last Dance

Your song is both restful and motivational.

When I tune my ear,

And listen for your inimitable melody;

When I stop encircling my own belly button,

And take my focus off me,

Then I am free to really dance.

I am a little girl,

Twirling under the adoring eye of my Father,

Soothed and rocked by the music,

Unfettered by self-awareness,

Unfazed by my lack of talent,

Unaffected by the gaze of others.

And although I stumble,

You are there to catch me.

My dance is empowered by Your love;

My dance embodies Your love for me;

And my dance exemplifies my love for You.

You make each step meaningful:

Each time I wash feet,

Each time I apply salve to a wound,

Each time I stare down evil,

Each time I forgive the undeserving,

And each time I love with Your love,

I am dancing with and for and in You.

May I save every last dance for You.
