Thanks Living

Lord, I say, “thank You” all the time.

Yet it often seems so hollow.

Maybe this year I need to say it with my life,

Instead of just my mouth.

To say, “thank You” for the mercy

You have repeatedly shown me,

May I choose to show compassion,

When condemnation is warranted.

To say, “thank You” for the grace

Of Your riches lavished on me,

May I be willing to give to others,

Who can give nothing in return.

To say, “thank You” for Your forgiveness

Of the same old thing again,

May I offer forgiveness and restoration

To any who wrong me.

To say, “thank You” for Your presence

Which fills my life with love,

May I be willing to give of my time

To someone who needs my love.

This year I want to show you

My thankfulness is more than hollow words.

May my life proclaim my gratitude to You.

As I commit myself to thanks living.
