Berth of Significance

I sit and ponder the manger:

Made of decaying material,

Insignificant in itself,

But designed for God’s purposes,

Created to be beautiful,

A hull, until Life dwelled in it.

Transformed by that Life:

From common to privileged,

From secular to sacred,

Now home to “God with us.”

It is a berth for the King of kings.

I find the manger symbolizes me:

Made of decaying material,

Insignificant in myself,

But designed for God’s purposes,

Created to be beautiful,

A hull, until Life dwelled in me.

Transformed by that Life:

From common to privileged,

From secular to sacred,

Now home for “Christ in me.”

I am a berth for the King of kings.
