Living Translation

I’ve heard it said so many times

And it always sounds like an excuse:

“I read the Bible but I just don’t get it.”

How can they not “get it”

When it is in their native tongue?

Then I realize the Word is not their native tongue

Nor is it mine.

The Word is Spirit.

My native tongue is flesh.

I have had a tutor – the Spirit,

Who has taught me all things Spiritual.

Who asks me to be His translator

To those whose native tongue is the flesh –

Those like me.

The Word can only be understood by flesh

When it is lived out in my life.

When they see the Spirit in me,

They have the chance to understand

In their own native tongue -

Who God is.

How much He loves them.

How far He goes to reach them.

And I become a living translation.
